Buninyong Botanic Gardens 150th Anniversary in 2011 |
The Friends of the Ballarat Botanical Gardens auspiced the group of people who have come together to formulate proposals for the celebration of the 150th Anniversary of the Buninyong Botanic Gardens. This process was begun in June 2009 by Lorraine Powell who coordinated the excellent historical displays for the Ballarat Botanical Gardens 150th Anniversary in 2007. A dynamic committee of local identities will ensure the success of the gaieties and formalities.
Buninyong Primary School Year 4 students along with those of Lal Lal and Scotsburn have been involved in a woodworking project to make 20 wheelbarrows to celebrate the 150th Anniversary of the Buninyong Botanic Gardens. They will be sold at Buninyong's Goodlife Festival on Sunday 16th of October 2011. Funds raised will go to the Gardens. The students also made planter boxes which fit nicely into the wheelbarrows. Seeds planted will be in flower for the opening of the Garden's new entrance. The event will be held on the 13th of November 2011 and will mark the Gardens' official anniversary.

Monthly meetings for the anniversary events planning committee to formulate proposals are held in the Court House at the Buninyong Town Hall.
