The Friends of the Ballarat Botanical Gardens auspice the group of people who have come together to formulate proposals for the celebration of the 150th Anniversary of the Buninyong Botanic Gardens. This process was begun in June 2009 by Lorraine Powell who coordinated the excellent historical displays for the Ballarat Botanical Gardens 150th Anniversary in 2007. A dynamic committee of local identities will ensure the success of the gaieties and formalities.

Leaving a Legacy

The main commemorative event, entitled "Leaving a Legacy", will be celebrated on the weekend of the 29th and 30th of October 2011. Think food, music and an appreciation of the long history of these pleasure gardens. Please reserve this time to be part of the festivities.

The Garden Harvest Lunch - 14 March 2010

As a lead up to the anniversary a Slow Food event called The Garden Harvest Lunch will be held in the Buninyong Botanic Gardens on Sunday 14th March 2010. This will be the first event in the Ballarat area to be part of the official Melbourne Food and Wine Festival. It will be a roaming lunch incorporating a stroll in the Gardens while sampling local produce. Funds raised from this event will be used for the implementation of the revitalisation program for the Gardens.
